British Steel has reported an increase in production, good news for those working within the industry. The company will recruit 66 additional staff including trainees for it’s Scunthorpe and Teesside facilities. The roles are available at the site of its new Special Profiles business in Skinningrove, in addition, 25 trainee positions are up for grabs at its headquarters in North Lincolnshire.
There were also 40 new British Steel jobs created in May, resulting in an extra shift being introduced at its Teesside Beam Hill operation. British Steel CEO Ron Deelen said: “Since the launch of our new business in March, Jingye Group has made significant investments in our business and our people, and it continues to do so. “These roles will enable us to support an increase in production and keep driving this business forward. They’re great opportunities for people to join us and play an important role in the ongoing transformation of British Steel.”
The Skinningrove mill, employs around 300 people, and manufactures a range of specialist products including cutting edge profiles and track shoes for use in the yellow goods industry. It also specialises in the production of crane rail, widely utilised in factories and ports worldwide along with shaft guides seen in underground mining.
Skinningrove have jobs available for crane drivers, process and machine operation, manual handling and forklift driving. In spring 2021, the operations will transition from 24 hours a day except weekends to 24/7. Extra staff will help the company to meet increased global customer demand while providing high quality specialist products.
